National Curriculum

The national curriculum is an integrated Primary School Curriculum known as KBSR (Kurikulum Bersepadu Sekolah Rendah). It provides the learning of English Language, Malaysian Language, Physical Education & Health Education, Moral Education, Arts Education, Music Education, Living Skills Education (Kemahiran Hidup and Local Studies (Kajian Tempatan). Primary 3 – 6 are following the KBSR and Mathematics and Science are still taught in English Language.

The new Primary School Curriculum KSSR (Kurrickulum Standard Sekolah Rendah) is introduced in stages starting from Primary One followed by Primary Two this year, 2012 and is made compulsory for all National Primary Schools. In KSSR, all subjects are taught in Bahasa Malaysia medium, including Science and Mathematics. The subjects offered are as follows:

Students are assessed in their learning process whether in KBSR or KSSR. Every year the students are being evaluated and at the end of the sixth year in primary school, students have to sit for the UPSR(Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah or Primary School Evaluation). As for the KSSR programme, students sit for the on-going school based evaluation known as PBS (Penilaian Berdasarkan Sekolah) which is in line with the Ministry of Education. By year 2016, certain percentages of the PBS marks will be taken for calculation of the overall UPSR results for the first batch of students who are in this stream..
